The Battle of the Two Loris

You know how in the movies there will be a shoulder angel and devil that try to sway the actor their way?  Well, I have two Loris.

Healthy Lori is super fit, wears a sport watch, and tries to get me to eat right.

Lazy Lori is overweight, wears a lot of flowy tops, and tells me to eat what I want.  Life is short, live a little!

Lately they have been battling it out:

HL:  "Let's talk about breakfast.  Have you seen the cappuccino and HUGE chocolate muffin she has every morning?  They have to go."

LL:  "I'll give you the muffin, but have you seen her when she wakes up?  You can't take away her cappuccino.  It could get scary."

HL:  Agreed.  Muffin goes, cappaccino stays.

Here is another battle:

HL:  Have you seen what this chick eats at the "Grill on the Hill?"  Chicken covered with cheese, BBQ sauce, and bacon?  TWO ranch dressings?!?!  She's killing me!

LL:  Alright.  Grilled chicken with a side of BBQ sauce, 1 ranch.   Baby steps girl, baby steps.

Most of the time it is a balance between the two.  I'm not totally giving up everything I enjoy, but I am making major changes in what I eat.  I still allow myself 1 coke a day (not 6), but I might choose to have a banana instead of a cupcake for a snack.  Hopefully after a while it won't be a battle anymore; it will be my everyday normal.

Anyone have any healthy substitutes they do?  I would love to hear about it!

Lori, I read a book a while back that made me change what I ate...not because I wanted to lose weight (although I definitely do!), but because it scared me what I was putting into my body. I'd be glad to share it if I can round it up. Anyways, I cut out most red meat and pork. I try to eat more plant-based foods and as little processed as possible. I lost 5 pounds in three weeks just changing that part. I still like my fries at Micky D's and would never say that I have a completely healthy diet, but it is *healthier* than it was! Like you said, it is a start...baby steps!! :) Keep hanging in there...sounds like you're doing great!

Thanks Brooke! I would LOVE to read that book if you find it.

I, like Brooke, don't eat much red meat because it makes me feel sluggish (if that makes sense). I use turkey in everything. I use turkey burger, turkey sausage, turkey hot dogs--everything. It's leaner and it's an easy way to cut calories. It's an easy substitute you may want to try. Good luck!!

Cara,

Thanks for the turkey tip! I will try it for sure!
